In 2008 there was the 50th anniversary of Fighter Bomber Wing 31 "Boelcke" together with the 25th year of the Tornado in service.
Therefore a new paint job was due. It shows a black/grey camouflage with the highlights of the aircraft flown at Nörvenich and on the other side the Albatross in which Oswald Boelcke got famous together with his signature.

The basic camouflage painting was done at the dock in Erding. The aircraft was then flown to Nörvenich where the airbrush art was finished.
It won the 1st prize for the best aircraft painting at the 2009 Leuchars airshow.
